James is a South Korean professional with extensive expertise in the engineering and heavy industries sector over 30 years. James has dedicated 30 years to the water and steam cycle process, working with various types of HRSGs, boilers, pressure vessels, and piping. His experience spans manufacturing, quality, engineering, construction, commissioning, warranty, and service. Additionally, he served as the Production Service Engineering Manager for GE Power for over three years. In this role, he was responsible for providing technical and engineering support to customers for global fleets of HRSGs, including both GE OEM and other OEM products.
While checking for tube leaks can be done by monitoring pressure, flow, and other instruments and methods, visual inspection is also a option. Typically, when a tube leak occurs, the water collects in the lower casing. HRSG OEMs provide a drain in the casing to drain the water. Therefore, opening the drain valve outside the casing during operation and checking the water flow can ultimately confirm any leaks inside the HRSG tube.
